Commissioned by King Ferdinand III, it has two important access doors, the main one known as Puerta del Perd贸n, in the mannerist style with two coats of arms above it, and the side door in the Gothic Mudjar style, known as Puerta del Sol.

The church has a single nave with 45 meters long and 20 meters high, with a magnificent altarpiece by Francisco de Palma, which was made after the Spanish Civil War, since the previous one was destroyed.

What to see in baeza

The excavations that were carried out in the Castle of Burgalimar indicate that most of the urban fabric and the defensive enclosure is from the Almohad period. In the visit we followed the lines of what were the streets and houses of a fortress intended for the provision and training of the troops of the Islamic army.    However, there are also traces of occupation of Burgalimar Castle in the Bronze Age, as the remains of the wall. And also a staircase of the temple of the Roman Phase. And, of course, a part of the Christian period: the citadel and the Torre del Homenaje.

Although most of the urban layout is from the Almohad period (12th century), which we try to imagine from the ashlar walls of the dwellings of these warriors, the starting point of their organization. The interior revolved around a courtyard with rooms, and it is believed that some of them had an upper floor and a stable for the animals. As for the decoration, it seems that it was used in the interior, leaving the exterior more sober.
